This is great! I am listening to a conference call and I’ve tallied 30 “going forward”s in twenty minutes.

Whenever I hear it, I want to become homicidal. Only the fear of prison restrains my terrible swift sword.

Your non-business examples are the best explanation I’ve seen to illustrate how unnecessary, inappropriate, and stupid the phrase is.

I think the correct pronunciation of palm is somewhere between polm and pom. Like you, I pronounce the L, but it’s an extremely subtle L which makes the word sound nothing like pom.

I hate hearing people pronounce the T in “often.” Whenever I hear it, I try to respond with a sentence where I can pronounce the T in “listen.”

Everyone in the UK has been brought up either using the word aubergine or, more likely, never hearing the word aubergine or eggplant because it’s not bland enough for the Brittish diet.
