So glad to find more 'awesome'phobic people in here. Thought I was the only one who cringed when inanimate items, abstract ideas, people... and what not were addressed with the same beaten-to-death word. I do the count sometimes when I am with people who use this word on an hourly basis .. its got that bad.

I enjoyed it. Also, a lot of languages sound disgusting in their own right. Take Arabic for example.. Talk about spitting out a sentence from the throat. And for the record, I DO hate illegals, with a passion. I don't mind any person of Hispanic heritage but, I don't go to Mexico expecting to speak full fledged conversations in English. Do it right, learn the language ENGLISH, and get here legally. I'm starting to feel like I don't belong here.. I have to take Spanish classes to understand more than basic level Spanish just to keep my job because you can't speak English in America. What a fucking shame.

"astonishing" is what most corporate advertisements (as well as nature documentaries, for some reason) tend to use instead of "awesome", with the same frequency, and it irks me at least as much as "awesome" does.

You are wrong, my friend. When real is used to mean "very" it is an adverb. That's the only time. It is not perfectly proper in writing to use real or really to mean very, but in our spoken language, this has been true for many years. I'm real sorry that you missed this.

Carlos - please look up "tongue in cheek" in your english/spanish dictionary. I am sure the translation is "des polecaros encomunte de la colotori ol linkoni talabalapases holu crabolentia de pascos le huende relanbelante" or something similar.

The point is, Spanish sounds highly annoying to English speakers. I am sure English doesn't sound the best to you either. However, English is a great language for communication which is why the world adopted it.

And whats with the nasal "eeee" sound? Have you guys never heard of "um" - far better.

...and PLEASE, stop saying you are passionate. It's cringeworthy. Every Barcelona or Real madrid fan always comes out with the same "We are eeeee so passionate".

Italian, French and other languages can sound great, Spanish doesn't sound BAD, like German, it's just sounds annoying and cliched - almost as if it's a parody of itself!

in my entire life I had never had (until now) any experience with a commentary with such a weak structure, that instead of exposing valid linguistic and ethimological arguments, tries to demonstrate the failure of spanish language by making comparisons between the critizied topic and the language of the own author.
unfortunately, your point of view not only exposes the lack of tolerance you have towards non-common social elements, but shows as well, even in a stronger way, your ignorance about linguistic topics. spanish words, the ones you might say are picked out of a hat, could never been similar as those of the english language, as spanish and english are two different languages that devoid of the influence of latin in the former, have nothing else in common due to their distant origins. spanish words are not ridiculous as you may have said, and may have only fit in this category if an ignorant man could actually dare to compare a language to his own native language, thus making the words of the former sound ridiculously formed in comparison of those of the latter. of course every language would resemble ridiculousness and mystery if one compares its sounds, (that are unique to that language) to one linguistic base which in this case definitely is english. also, the lenght of a word and the syllables it includes can never be formed as the base of the critic of a language, as this only proves the origin of the language, therefore those words are just the product of a process that was not intented to reflect the difficulty of the own language, it just responded to a natural linguistic evolution that changes in every language.

considering that this comment was posted by a native spanish speaker, I found your arguments of hatred towards my language as an inoffensive though childish commentary, whose base is founded in relative and vague perspectives more than in a deep investigation about the topic.
